As the last frost melts away here in Ohio, our fields come alive with some of the most enchanting blooms of the year. After years of growing cut flowers, these spring varieties have earned a permanent place at Nestor Flower Farm.
Our peonies are the undisputed stars of late spring, offering a rainbow from pure white to deep red, with delicate pinks and that coveted coral shade that stops visitors in their tracks. These Ohio natives thrive in our climate, rewarding us with armfuls of ruffled blooms that seem almost too perfect to be real.
Earlier in the season, our ranunculus and anemones create a tapestry of color. The ranunculus, with their paper-thin layers of petals, look like nature’s own origami, while the anemones bring that classic poppy-like charm with their dark centers and vibrant petals dancing in the spring breeze.

For texture and height, nothing beats our larkspur spikes reaching skyward, while the sculptural alliums add whimsy with their perfect globe blooms. And our baptisia—what a workhorse! These native perennials provide both stunning blue flowers and interesting seed pods that extend their appeal well beyond spring.
This year, we’re expanding our supporting cast with orlaya (that delicate white lace flower), architectural bupleurum, silvery dusty miller for contrast, and the airy clouds of ammi. These additions will add even more depth to our spring bouquets and give our customers more variety to choose from.

These spring varieties are the backbone of our wedding work and event designs. Peonies paired with orlaya and ammi create romantic bridal bouquets, while the bold alliums and ranunculus make stunning centerpieces. Whether you’re planning an intimate dinner party or a grand celebration, these locally-grown blooms bring Ohio’s spring beauty straight to your table—fresh from our fields to your special moments.
